Then reality will sink in soon - no strategy is drawdown proof (a decline from a historical peak in trading).
Drawdowns are bound to happen as long as we are trading. It's like inhaling and exhaling - you can't inhale it all. Trading is also like the different seasons, there is summer, winter, spring, and fall. (It's not always sunny, cloudy, snowy or rainy day)
Now, when traders experience a series of losing trades, they start to doubt the system and wonder - "Is my system still good enough? Should I change my strategy now?" It is very hard to think when you start losing your trades, especially when you're losing money.
Understanding and accepting that series of losing trades are all part of the system. Trading is like a business. When you receive your gross sales, you need to deduct the salary, expenses, etc.
In the business, expenses will always show up until you're running a business. In trading, losses will always show up until you're trading. But at the end of the day, if you know that your business is profitable, there is no need for you to worry about your expenses.
In trading, if you know that you are following a proven system or strategy, there there is also no need for you to worry. The common problem for traders is that they give up too quickly.
If you're running a restaurant for instance, would you sell your restaurant in a month or two if it only has a few customers?
In forex trading, when traders lose, they immediately "close down their restaurants" in less than one month. Others in one week, while some, early as one day.
In other words, they could potentially have a billion-dollar business on hand, but they did not give it a chance to grow. They kill it right on the get-go.
You can create multiple trading accounts. Those multiple accounts will allow you to release the potential of each business. As time goes by (let's say every quarter of the year) you can start to assess which trading account works or whatnot, then from there, you can tweak and finetune the strategy. There is no need for you to "enhance" your strategy every week for it will lead you to deeper losses.
